The SPROUT! program works together with the USDA Summer Food Service Program to keep children safe, healthy and fit during the summer. Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sites will operate as usual through their food program Sponsors, who report to the Illinois State Board of Education.

SPROUT! will enhance children’s programming at selected food service sites. At these sites, Illinois Action for Children will deliver services and resources according to one of the three models described in the program Fact Sheet . These additional benefits for children are funded by federal stimulus money made available through the TANF Emergency Contingency Fund, and the State of Illinois.

If you would like a summer job working with school-age children at SPROUT! sites, click here. (All employees must be at least 18 years of age.)
